Nebular Camouflage
1989
This piece was based on the far fetched notion of using camouflage in space, as if you would
need camouflage at an inner system cruising speed of 120 km/sec. The nebula was begun as a
controlled accident, letting pure white paint run at will, settling and drying in the
tiny ridges and grooves of the blue-black brush work underneath.
Airbrush glazes then provided the bright colors.
This piece was used (incongruously, I thought) on a German hardcover of Anne MacCaffrey's
The Ship Who Sang.
