Garden Tractor pulling

3D Pulling Team

Dad, Dustin & Daniel

    One of the things my son and I have gotten into recently is Stock Garden Tractor Pulling with the Eastern Shore Garden Tractor Pullers. The main requirements are that it must be a stock garden tractor,
no more than stock 16 hp cast iron engine,
wheelie bars,
ignition kill switch,
max tire size is 26x12x12,
use standard pump gasoline- no additives.

There are 2 divisions, Kids (14 & under) and Adult, each pulling separately from the adults. Each of the Divisions pulls in the 950#, 1050# and 1150# classes.

We are currently pulling at the track sponsored by the Greensboro Vol. Fire Co., at the carnival grounds on Sunset Ave, between Md. Route 480 and Md. Route 313. We have scheduled pulls once a month from April thru October. We even have a section in the http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/easternshoretractorpullers .

    My current pulling tractor is an Allis Chalmers 312 with variable speed, hence the orange title. I started in 2001 with an old Montgomery Wards 16 hp Variable speed 16, which were made by Gilson Brothers in 1971 & 1973, and are tough, hard working tractors. I have 2 of them and pulled with both and have since semi retired them. I have completed the repairs on the Allis Chalmers like removing rust, getting linkage and pulleys working again, painting and installing a Kohler K-341 16 hp engine. The 312 originally had a 12 hp Kohler, but as I bought it from a Lawn & Garden repair center and junkyard, it had no engine. The current tractor I'm building up to try is a 1966 Cub Cadet 122. This is the one that the motor blew as Dustin was in line to get weighed in for the first pull for us and the season. Boy was he disappointed. We've since replaced the engine with another 12 hp Kohler K-301.All of my tractors have been running 23x10.50x 12 tires, but I now have a set of 26x12x12's in the garage.

    Dustin has now found a tractor that he wanted and had a 1966 Cub Cadet 122 ready to go for pulling, including a mower deck to cut grass. It came with turf tires and a new set of 26x12x12 pulling tires, so he can't wait for the next pull. I let him pull with one of the Montgomery Wards during the last pull while I tried out the Allis for the first time.

Now for some pics;
