In the first part of the
1900s, American Eskimo Dogs were
often used in the circus. Below are various photos (more coming soon!) that
show Eskies doing what they do best - everything!

| This picture is a
little hard to see because it was made for 3-D glasses.
On the back of this card:
"The Oreas of Europe and their
Trained Spitz Dogs have never before been seen by American circus
audiences. The full troupe contains 22 dogs, but only 16 are used
in the act at one time, with the others standing by as replacements.
These dogs work absolutely alone, with only voice cues from the trainer.
In rehearsing the hoop act shown on this card the dog is first taught to
walk through the hoop, then jump through a hoop held in the trainer's
hand, and finally to jump through the hoop held by another dog." |
