| The Jersey Shore's Singing Sensation! | ||
We got to talking and she mentioned that she was between bands and looking to get something together. Since I was also looking for work, due to the interruption in my day gig because of a foot injury, my ears perked up.
We scheduled a few jam sessions over at her mom's house in Ocean Grove and with a few weeks we were performing at such places as the Deal Pub, Dugan's in Asbury Park, and Jason's in South Belmar. I had a great time performing behind Patty- who is not just an incredible singer but a dominating stage presence!
After a while I got a call from John Cavallo about a new band he was putting together to warm up behind Bobby Bandiera on Sunday nights at the Stone Pony. Since Patty and I were booked at Dugan's just around the corner, it was an easy thing to just carry my amp over to the Pony, where Chik-A-Boom debuted on that warm August night in 1990.
Success with Chik-A-Boom meant some difficult choices had to be made though, and soon Patty and I were no longer performing together. She went off to form One-eyed Jack, and to raise a family with husband Donnie and two wonderful kids.
Many years later as her kids matured, Patty began performing steadily once again with One-eyed Jack at several notable venues such as the Convention Hall, The Wonder Bar and the Stone Pony. Talk again began of pooling our talents into a steady act, and here we are!
I have so much admiration for Patty that it is difficult to imagine anyone not feeling the same. She moves from a slow, sexy ballad to a kick-butt rocker with such ease and so much enthusiasm it seems that she was born for the stage!

Patty is a multi-talented songstress and performer who has
graced some of the Jersey Shore's finest stages during her
career- from Asbury Park's Stone Pony to the Convention Hall, to
Lake Como's Bar Anticipation and beyond. Her broad range
encompasses many styles from slow blues to soft folk and
country, to kick-butt rock n roll. You can currently see Patty perform with One-eyed Jack at places such as the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park and the Lake House in Loch Arbour. |
Al-Vis has been a fixture of the Asbury Park area's music scene
for several decades, performing with such storied acts as Big
Danny Gallagher, Chik-A-Boom, The Disco Rejects, JP Gotrock and
several original projects. He has performed on internationally
renowned recordings by several artists, and has recently
finished up a solo collection "Road Construction" which features
several originals as well as tributes to some of his musical
heros. His latest bands have been Chik-A-Boom, a band he founded back in 1990 with John Cavallo, and which has featured several other Jersey Shore top players, and also the Mike and Al-Vis duo, which has performed hundreds of smaller rooms, weddings and private parties since 2000. |
