Amend PA Code Title 67 Section 175.77(f) !
I was recently pulled over in Skippack Township for driving my '95 Jeep Wrangler without any doors. Apparently I was in violation of PA Code Title 67 Section 175.77(f) which reads:
(f) Doors. A vehicle specified under this subchapter shall be equipped with doors of a type used as original equipment. The doors shall open and close securely unless the vehicle has been manufactured or modified to the extent that there is no roof or side. Tailgates, except on vehicles where the tailgate gives access to the passenger compartment, may be replaced with wood planking, nets or other material that will prevent loss of load. Tailgates may be removed when optional equipment, for example a truck camper, is added.
I want to add an amendment to this law to exclude "open-body vehicles".
"...Because of its open-body construction, your Jeep vehicle offers less protection than closed vehicles in the event of an accident.
Although your Jeep vehicle may be equipped with a soft top or optional hard top to give the occupants protection from the weather, these tops do not offer structural protection in the event of an accident and do not change the open-body characteristics of the vehicle. Even though your Jeep vehicle has a sport bar and side bars for some extra protection, it is a truly open vehicle-there is no structural integrated top and it has low sides and a folding windshield. Many of these vehicles do not have fully enclosed hard doors ." - Jeep Wrangler 1995 Owners Manual pg 4, First Edition 1994 Chrysler Corporation.
I was trying to gather signatures to give to Gov. Ed Rendell to amend this law.
If you want to email the Governor, I have added his link.

Unfortunately I can no longer pursue this cause. I recently recieved a promotion at work and it requires me putting in many extra hours. I will keep the links alive that people may email all those involved with the Senate Transportation Committee. I've obtained over 150 signatures that I will mail. I hope this will get some ball rolling on this issue. Thank you everyone for your support!!
Below is the Senate Transportation Committee Chairman's address. Feel free to send him your comcerns. Below that is a link to everyone on the committee.
