Welcome to girlsinkarate.com, the web site for girls interested in martial arts.  My name is Anna L. and I now live in Washington.  I recently received my first degree youth black belt in American Kenpo Karate (you can see the cake below).  I have been in the Masters Club at Vision Quest International Black Belt Academy Kenpo Karate School and also on the SWAT team (a group of students who get to help teach and do other cool things).  I'm now looking for a new school in the Northwest.  Stay tuned for future developments.

Take a look at What's New in our web site to see the latest updates to the site.  If you are visiting for the first time, you might want to look at About girlsinkarate.com to see what's in the site. Check out Pictures & Notes to read messages from you.  Since the site is about you, you might want to read Send-Ins and send in pictures and information about yourself that I can add to the site, or you can send in information you think girls might like, jokes, ideas about what to add to the site, or anything else you want to send in.

Want to chat with other girls interested in karate?  Check out our special SmartGroups.com discussion list.  You can join by signing up below (see our sponsors area) or by going to the site; and once you join, you can exchange ideas, questions, and other information with girls interested in the martial arts.

New2.gif (1251 bytes)Great Profile of a 17-year-old Girl

The editor of PT Magazine, a magazine for physical therapists, told us about a great article they published in their May 1st issue on the martial arts/physical therapy connection.   It talks about how physical therapists are using martial arts to help special needs children, and also features three physical therapists who are black belts in different martial arts and how it has helped them.  There is also a wonderful special needs profile that takes a look at a 17-year-old girl who practices karate.

What's New

Be sure to look through the site and suggest things to add.  Also, send in information about yourself and we'll put it on the site!

If you see this picture New2.gif (1251 bytes) next to anything in this site you will know that it is a new thing that has been added (even if it's not listed here).

Christina Crank who was recently inducted into the USAKF Hall of Fame as "Junior Female Competitor of the Year" sent us a link to her site.  It's great!  Christina is a member of the USA-NKF, USAKF, and AAUI, and has been an active competitor for the past seven years with various National Titles!  Her site has pictures of lots of girls in karate!
We have a cool article about martial arts and physical therapy here
Check out a new site for Women in Karate!  It's great!  Lots of excellent resources!
We've received some nice notes about the site, and have added them to the Pictures & Notes area.
We have some new pictures from Vison Quest's belt testing 6/02.
There's a great story about Anita Bendickson and how she won the International Amateur Karate Federation's national tournament.  It is at www.karatevid.com/article-anitaCamp.htm.
I have put a new section on my site.  It's called media.   Check it out!

Send-Ins

If you want to make this site even better, you can send me a joke, game, picture (with information about the picture), the latest news about Karate or girls in Karate, or anything else you think girls might like over the internet to girlsinkarate, along with your first name, last initial, age, city (if  you want), state, belt color, type of Karate you take, e-mail address, or anything you want. The only rule is your Send-In has to have something to do with girls in Karate (or girls in other martial arts).  Please be patient, though. It might take a while for me to respond.

Your're doing great at sending me e-mails, girls!  Keep it up!  And don't forget, all your e-mails matter.

I need some game ideas!  The games section is still under construction!   Please send me your ideas for fun Karate games for the site.
