True friendships flourish in a small group of up to ten children with two adults.
A good story is always welcome.  Our 2,000 book children's library which is arranged into units ensures plenty of interesting reading for everyone.
Kings and Queens from our fairy tale unit.  Our literacy based theme related curriculum is educational and fun.
Our lead instructor, Amy Waltz, is nurturing and dedicated to helping each child reach their full potential.  Her philosophy is consistent with current research on early education.  She has a BA in elementary education and a minor in science with over 21 years of teaching experience.
Playing rhythm instruments, piano, guitar, bells and lots of singing engage children in music education.
Our house play area  promotes imaginative roll play actvities and includes a loft which is safely enclosed by plexy glass.
Arts and crafts activities promote creativity and self expression.
Dancing together is pure bliss.
American Sign Language (ASL) offers many benefits for hearing children including larger vocabularies and better conceptual and communication skills.  ASL is integrated into the daily curriculum at Waltzing Bear.
Early science education emphasizes inquiry, observation and discovery.  Topics of exploration include nature studies, earth and space, weather, mixtures, anatomy, and physical science.  The use of modles and experiments make complex ideas understandable and interesting.
Children learn basic computer skills and take advantage of appropriate educational software in the computer loft.
Our indoor jungle gym promotes fitness and fun.
We go outdoors year round on a daily basis.  Here is our three floor playhouse with sliding board, speak tube, and tunnel to ride bikes through.  The play yard also includes a patio area covered with two inch thick rubber tiles to help prevent injuries, sand box, swings, lawn and garden areas.
We enjoy trips to local playgrounds, the zoo and other areas of interest.  Here is our local playground.
Sometimes we make a special trip to the State House to advocate for children with American Family Child Care Association (AFCCA)
