Take off from Sacramento!

A view of my "neighborhood" from above. I had to scramble a bit to get my
camera back out when I saw what the plane was flying over!

Ever try taking Ferrets for a walk? lol, these are my friend's pets. We had a ball
taking them for a walk in the park across the way from her house.
|

More Ferret walking... They went at their own pace and investigated everything
along the way. They attracted a lot of attention from the neighbors, the neighbor's
dogs and cats and the kids... hehe
|

Here is where my friend lives and where I stayed during my visit to Nederland.
|

One night, my friend, Viking, told us to grab our coats and get in the car. He was
going to take us for a ride and show us something neat. He sure did! This is a place
called Kinderdijk. The area near there has a lot of the older windmills
that still operate to pump the water. 1 week a year, they light them up at night.
I got lucky! I was there during the right week! It took us a while, but we
finally figured out how to make my camera take some long exposure photos of the beautiful
windmills.
|

Another beautiful view of the windmills. They say that the windmills at Kinderdijk
are among the most photographed and painted windmills in the Netherlands. I believe it!
They are beautiful!
|

I love how this one turned out. We were standing on a little bridge over the canal
and set the camera on the railing for the picture. The water was so smooth it was
like a mirror.
|

Another beautiful view of the windmills all lit up....
|

We walked along the canals so long that night that one by one, the lights went out on all
the windmills. Finally all you could see were the stars, the lights of the city in
the distance and the silhouettes of the windmills.
|

Hmmm... Somebody snapped a shot of Viking and me talking about the windmills... hehe
|

And Viking tried to get a shot of Elvnwitch and I standing in front of the signs at
Kinderdijk. We didn't count on the reflective surface of the signs... lol, we
decided to keep the picture anyway.
