Electronic Communication
The New Jersey Coast Section currently uses IEEE
Entity Web Hosting (EWH) for providing information on Calendar of
Events, Online Registration, Announcements, Executive Committee contact
Information, Directions to Locations, and Banquet Photos.
The ewh website is looked as technical resource by keeping
current and past events are kept on the ewh website.
We have been able to create a database of past talk attendees to
better target mass e-mails. ·
Online Registration
for talks, Banquet, PACE etc.
The EWH environment is also used to host an online registration engine. The online registration uses forms to gather registration data for different activities, e.g. talks, annual banquet, PACE workshops, annual Seminars, and election nominations. ADVANTAGES: (i)
Changes
in the registration information, e.g. filled seats, date changes, etc.
can be placed on the website, and emails can be generated for every
registration. (ii)
No
telephone calls need to be made to the volunteers for event
registrations e.g. talks, Banquet, Seminar, PACE workshop, etc.
Also, no need for volunteers to aggregate all the information
after receiving phone calls. (iii)
Registration
count can be used to give the total number of people attending the talk
to the restaurant. (iv) Registration information can be preprinted for easy registration at the talk. ·
Section Outstanding Speaker
Award
The section has instituted an outstanding speaker
award annually and it is awarded to the best speaker based on the
recommendations received from the Chapter Chairs and the Awards
Committee. ·
Pre-college education
The Section has initiated a program for conducting
courses to teach C++ programming language to high school students. The
instructor volunteers from the Section are compensated for their effort
via honorarium of about $500 per person. |
