Survival in a Competitive Environment

VENUE: Meeting Rooms 107/108 Magill Commons, Monmouth University, NJ 07764.  For direction to the venue: DIRECTIONS

PURPOSE:  Finding – and keeping – a job/career in today’s competitive employment market demands more than your technical education. This skill-building workshop provides a process for you to identify the parameters of the job/career role that is right for you – and “how to’s” for leveraging your strengths to maximize performance, meet organizational needs and your career goals.  This process will also help you in “targeting” your job search and in conducting more successful job interviews.

Participants will:

  • Approach professional development as a life-long process of matching and building their skills to meet organizational needs and personal goals.

  • Identify their own “motivated” abilities and assess their “fit” to current and potential jobs/careers.
  • Understand the nature of their organization’s expectations for development and build techniques for performing critical skills that build on their natural strengths.

  • Build skills for more effectively discussing how their strengths can be leveraged to meet organizational needs – and for joint planning with their management.
  • Learn the importance for “targeting” job searches and job interviews.
  • Be more prepared to mentor and coach others.

WORKSHOP LEADER: Marlys Hanson, Principal, Marlys Hanson & Associates, Inc.  Copperopolis, CA.   For 25 years, Marlys has provided career workshops to Fortune 100’s, top government agencies, and entrepreneurial teams, both domestic and international.  Clients include ExxonMobil, GlaxoSmithKline, DuPont, Merck, the Defense Intelligence Agency and the Department of Energy.
