Getting ready for your team meeting

DID YOU HAVE A PROBLEM (BETTER KNOW AS AN OPPORTUNITY) AT SCHOOL......

If your child has an IEP or 504, check the document to see if this opportunity is addressed. Many times parents forget that the problem has been addressed and has a goal or accomplishment already.
If not, it might be time for you to request a team meeting. You can do this by writing a letter to the Special Needs Chair at your school.

Consider these things also....
Did you call the Chair ?
Did you call the Principle?
Did you call Jeanne Sullivan, Director of Pupil Personnel Services?
If you did all this and you do not feel that the opportunity will be resolved, maybe write a letter to the chair and copy all of the above people. You may want to send a copy to Dr. Ansay.

Remember, parents and school staff work as a team to ensure an appropriate education for the Special Needs Students in Norton. If you are not getting your opportunity resolved, perhaps it's a mis-communication or confusion. Always try to give the team the benefit of the doubt first.

Document everything that happens. Things can be very difficult in the life of a Special Needs Parent. Sometimes it can be hard to see the progress.

If you need someone to talk to, please call a PAC Board Member. We will do everything possible to assist you.

For information on preparing for your IEP meeting, please visit our "NEWS" page.
