The weather cleared Tuesday night, and Wednesday was blindingly bright, cool and windy. I loved it! The first thing I did was head back to Bass Harbor lighthouse hoping to get some better picture-taking opportunities. I was not disappointed!

From the hill at the end of the peninsula on which the lighthouse sits, the view out over Frenchman's Bay is truly amazing. You can see some of the nearby Cranberry Islands in this shot:


This is, of course, the Bass Harbor lighthouse that was featured on the postcards I sent. Climbing down the short trail down onto the rocks was not nearly as difficult as you might guess from the terrain. Big feet and long legs have their advantages!


Turning the camera 90 degrees shows why the lighthouse was needed. Look at those rocks! The sound of the surf was very relaxing. I could have stayed here all day, but I had 2 other major adventures planned for Wednesday.
