Beth Ann and I wanted to go camping, so we decided to reserve a site at Skidaway Island State Park. My birthday was also during this weekend. We left work around 3:00pm. We pulled out of the driveway at 3:50pm. We finally arrived and registered at the State Park around 4:05pm. Whew...what a lengthy trip!!! All the sites at Skidaway were pull-throughs. We decided to park our camper on Site #12.

We set up our camper, and opened up both bed ends. The rear bed end was used to accommodate a special guest..."Little Girl," a hedgehog. Beth Ann agreed to "hedgehog-sit" for a coworker, after another "sitter" was not able to meet that obligation at the last minute. "Little Girl" was cute, cuddly, and friendly. She was no trouble at all.

After setting up the camper, I set up my ham radio station and hung a trap dipole antenna in the trees. Radio Station, WD4AFY/4 was on-the-air.

Beth Ann prepared a Low Country Boil for supper. It was Mmmmm good!!! We sat outside for awhile then called it a night. We checked the 11pm news and weather before falling asleep.
We woke up around 7:15am, Saturday. Around 9am, I spoke with some friends (including Jack Norris, WB4TWX, in Six Mile, SC,) on the ham radio. Later, we ate breakfast nearby, at the Omelet House, then drove around the area.
Around 3pm, I turned on the ham radio to see if there were any Scouts on for the Scout Jamboree on-the-air (JOTA.) I found a group of local hams on 40 meters with Scouts at Cockspur Island. I talked to about 30 Scouts, and my friend Jack Norris, WB4TWX, up to about 5pm. Beth Ann and I went home to feed our cats and clean their litterbox. Afterwards returned to the campground, had supper, and then relaxed. We fell asleep around 11:30pm.

Sunday morning, we got up, ate breakfast, and relaxed. Around noon, we packed the camper and made the 15 minute voyage home. Skidaway Island State Park is very nice, and we will probably camp there again in the near future.
