On March 31, 2006, Beth Ann and I took our StarCraft 19CK TravelStar to PECO Campers, in Tucker, GA, for routine maintenance. We returned to PECO, April 14, to pick up our camper and have a hitch and an electronic brake installed on our new Chevy Silverado 5.3L V8 truck. When the work was completed, and with camper attached, we headed to Indian Springs State Park near Jackson, GA.
We arrived and registered at Indian Springs around 2:30pm. We scouted the available campsites and settled into Campsite 71. Our campsite was level and appeared to have recently been renovated. After setting up camp, we then began to explore this intriguing state park.

Indian Springs State Park is one of the oldest state parks in the nation. The current registration office is a historic landmark which was used as a residence and inn in its early days.

Indian Springs is known for its mountain spring water, that has considerable sulfur content, which supposedly has curative powers. I drank several gulps of this cold spring water which was quite refreshing despite the obnoxious smell and taste. Beth Ann declined sampling the water.

Indian Springs State Park is very scenic, especially in the springtime. There were beautiful flowers blooming everywhere. The streams offered a natural serene beauty at its finest. The lake is a boater's and fisherman's paradise.

If you need to go to a grocery store, then Ingles in Jackson is the place to go. They have about anything you need, and if you get your Ingles store discount card, you will find that prices are quite reasonable. Also in Jackson, Beth Ann and I had a chance to dine at an excellent BBQ place, Fresh Air Bar-B-Que. We also enjoyed real ice cream treats at Bruster's.
We had an opportunity to drive around the area, so we went to nearby High Falls State Park to check out their camping facilities. High Falls is a beautiful park and its day area is very nice. Park officials are phasing out camping in that area. The main camping area is now located across the road from the day area. We noted that the access road to the camping area was not ideal or friendly for some campers. Some campsites checked were not that level either. If you like to fish, this place is for you. We were happy that we chose Indian Springs over High Falls for our camping weekend.

All good things must end. We packed up Easter Sunday and headed home. We made it home safely around 4:00pm.
We had a great time at Indian Springs, and will definitely try to camp there again in the near future.
