Andrew and Beth Ann Blackburn's Camping Adventures:
Hamburg State Park

December 29, 2007 - January 1, 2008

We're heading back to our favorite State Park...

On Saturday, packed and ready, we hit the road to go camping. After a 3 hour drive, with it raining, we arrived at our destination...Hamburg State Park. We parked the camper on our favorite campsite, #30.

With it raining, we delayed the camper setup and went to Sandersville to get some lunch. We ate at Dairy Lane. Their food, (in our opinion,) is mediocre at best, but their ice cream and dairy products including their sundaes, are very good.

After leaving Dairy Lane, we explored a nearby moderately-sized antique store.

With the rain diminishing, we returned to the campground to set up our camper.

Beth Ann rushed to get the New Year's decorations up in various areas of the campsite. By the time we finished setting-up, heavy rain fell again.

We woke up Sunday morning to more rainy weather. It was definitely a good day for ducks.

By afternoon, the rain diminished. We realized that there were only 6 campers including us and the "camp host" in the park.

Around supper time, we drove to Sandersville, and pulled in to the parking lot at Maricela's Mexican Grill.

Maricela's food was delicious, the service was very good, and the price was reasonable. We will be eating at this establishment again on a return trip.

Monday brought clear skies! Beth Ann needed the internet to take care of some time-sensitive business. She was able to access a computer and conduct her online business in a local Sandersville motel lobby. Afterwards, we went to Walmart and then returned to the campground.

Beth Ann prepared some hors douvers and snacks for New Years Eve. I started a campfire in the fire ring. At midnight, we rang Beth Ann's father's bell to bring in the New Year. (No one complained about the bell in the camping area.)

Tuesday, we packed the camper around noon, and left. We made it home safely around 4pm.
