We arrived at the State Park Friday afternoon and settled in to our campsite, #3. It was a nice, spacious, site.

After setting up the camper, we were greeted by a friendly cat that came from the Camp Host site. The cat turned out to be a stray that had made it self at home with the Camp Host family.

Saturday, we met the Camp Host and Hostess. The Camp Host's wife announced that there would be an astronomy program that evening. I mentioned that I also had a interest in astronomy. She asked me to attend the astronomy program to possibly help her out. I told her that I would be there.

Beth Ann and I explored the park, attended a program on the history of the park, and visited the free aquarium. Afterwards, we went to the springs origin and saw turtles and alligators. (As a child, I used to swim in the springs.)

Saturday afternoon, We left the park and was driving towards Millen, GA., when we saw a silo that looked like a "Chia Pet."

We explored the small, friendly town of Millen. We went into the Fred's Grocery store, a hardware store, and ate a snack at the Krispy Chik. The local Enmark gas station did not have pumps that accepted credit and debit cards.

We returned to the campgound and relaxed.

Around 9pm, Beth Ann and I joined others at the campground office for the astronomy program. It was "partly cloudy." The Camp Hostess showed several constellations before the clouds covered most of the overhead sky. A meteor was sighted in the Northern sky and quickly disappeared behind the clouds. As explanation of the sighting was about to be given, the meteor reappeared in the extreme southern sky! WOW!!!! The Camp Hostess had been the GSU Planetarium operator 15 years ago. She also knew Becky Lowder, who is the present GSU Planetarium Director.

Sunday arrived, and it was time to pack-up and go home. Beth Ann noticed a tiny critter in the kitchen sink. It was a baby scorpion. I captured the scorpion and put it outside.

We left around noon and made it home safely around 3:00pm.
