The Oglethorpe Astronomical Association, of Savannah, GA was invited to do an "astronomy program," at Hamburg State Park, near Mitchell, GA. Beth Ann and I really enjoy this State Park for camping. With camper and telescope, we left Savannah at 3:30pm, Thursday, and arrived at Hamburg State Park around 3 hours later.

We pulled our camper in to site #14 and set up. This site has a great view.

We ate "Crab Shack" crab stew for supper, that we had picked up earlier in Savannah. We called it a day around 11pm.
When we awoke Friday morning, there was a slight erie fog over the lake due to cooler temperatures.

Beth Ann prepared a delicious "breakfast casserole." Around 11am, we went to Sandersville and browsed through a small flea market, shopped at Walmart, then drove over to the Dairy Lane and ate chocolate sundaes.
Afterwards, we returned to our campsite. It was a beautiful day to be outside, but there was a "chill" in the air. We lit up a portable propane heater appropriately named "Mr. Heater," to warm things up.

Late in the afternoon, the sun showcased the beautiful autumn foilage.

The water level was very low, showing tree stumps pertruding out of the water.

Friday evening, We went to Sandersville and ate dinner at Maricela's Mexican Grill. Mmmmm Good!!!
We returned to the State Park as the sun was setting. I went over to the ball field to observe. There was a chill in the air, and the sky was dark and beautiful. I observed with the group until around 11pm, when I returned to our camper.

We woke up early Saturday morning and travelled to the Stone Mountain Hamfest at Lawrenceville, GA. We arrived around 8:20am.

I quickly made a run through the hamfest, visited with my good friend Jack Norris, WW4TWX, and left to go to the Farmers Market. We arrived at the Farmers Market in Forrest Park and rode around the produce area. We then parked at a Garden Vendor and purchased 5 flats of pansies to plant at home. I took a picture of the "Sea of Pansies."

We made the litte over 2 hour trip back to the campground and rested. We had "Low Country Boil" for supper. I visited the dedicated "star gazers" at the ball field for a short time, then returned to our camp site. I started a campfire and Beth Ann and I hovered around this wonderful source of warmth for much of the evening, before retiring.

Sunday morning, Beth Ann prepared breakfast casseroles for the weary atronomers. I delivered 2 casseroles to the group at the ball park, and we also enjoyed a breakfast casserole at our camper.
We relaxed and enjoyed the tranquility of this state park until around noon. We packed the camper and left the state park around 1pm. We made it home safely around 4:30pm.
