Introduction
I
have written a program to compute the dimensions of a Moxon
Rectangle antenna given the desired frequency and the wire
diameter.
I
was inspired to write this program after I saw a screenshot of a
program called MoxGen
which runs only on Windoze. That program was written by Dan Maguire
(AC6LA).
I
was unable to find a program that did this computation natively on
Linux.
Thus,
Fl_MoxGen was born!
Currently,
this program runs on Linux.
It
was originally developed on Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS on a 32-bit computer
with FLTK 1.1.7.
Current
development occurs on Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS with FLTK
1.1.10.
It
should work on other platforms where FLTK is supported.
I would appreciate hearing success stories from people running this on other platforms.
It
is Free Software under the terms of the GNU General Public
License, version 3 (or later).
All
of my computers run Linux, thus I cannot test this program on any
other operating system.
Here
is a recent screenshot.

The
picture of the antenna which is used in this program, as well as
the formulas for computing the dimensions of the antenna, are the
work of L.B. Cebik W4RNL (SK) and came from his
website. The details of the formulas and such can be found in
an article entitled “Designing Moxon Rectangles by Equation
and by Model”, which is available at the Cebik
website.

This new version adds PDF output capability and fixes a few bugs.
See the CHANGES file for more details.
LATEST version is available for download from Sourceforge.
Please
note that I am not an antenna modeling expert (far from it!), so
please consider the resulting model as a starting point for any
further analysis you might wish to perform.
The
output from Fl_MoxGen is then sent to xnec2c. Here is what xnec2c
produced.
