It is currently marked as CA-905. CA-905 provides access from I-5 and I-805 to the Otay Mesa border crossing, the primary truck border crossing (trucks are not allowed to cross at I-5/MX-1). On the east end, CA-905 connects to the local street system of Tijuana, MX at the Otay Mesa border crossing. On the west end, CA-905 connects to I-5 between the San Ysidro and Otay Mesa parts of San Diego, CA. IN CALIFORNIA STATE: CA-905 is not marked and is maintained by the City of San Diego on the Otay Mesa Rd section. It is marked as beginning WB/ending EB just east of I-805 and as beginning EB/ending WB in the turn to/from the south to/from the Otay Mesa border crossing. Caltrans (the California DOT) is slowly adding exit numbers to the freeway exits on all of California's freeways. The numbering is mileage based. There are some situations where, for the same crossing roadway, the eastbound exit number may be different from the westbound one. For example, exit 1C WB is exit 1 EB which exits to Beyer Blvd. Be sure to account for this when getting or giving directions. Although the exit numbers are based on mileage through the entire state, the mileposts are still based on mileage through each county. These county-based mile posts are shown on this strip chart for each exit. The freeways of southern California are well known for their traffic jams particularly during rush hour and at freeway-to-freeway interchanges.
