I-189Vermont Burlington, VTI-89 Burlington, VTUS-7 Vermont Burlington, VT 1 FULL HIGHWAY LENGTH: I-189 is a connecting spur from I-89 to southern Burlington. It was originally planned to continue up the waterfront through downtown Burlington and connect back up to I-89 on the north side of town. Only an extra half mile was built and it was never used and is currently blocked off at each connecting road. On its east end, I-189 connects to I-89 southeast of Burlington. On its west end, I-189 connects to US-7 south of Burlington. The Border Patrol may, and often does, set up additional checkpoints anywhere within 100 miles of the Canadian Border (not just the first 100 miles of hwy). Use common sense. Don't give the inspectors reason to suspect you (ie. no jokes). One misspoken word can change a 3 minute stop into several hours.
