There are several data files that are necessary before SimPlan can be started. These include:

• State input files
• Program input files

Results are place in the Result File. Any of these files may be seen or changed using your standard word processor. Input files should be saved in ascii text format. The input files must be in the current directory or folder at the time that SimPlan is started. The result file will show up in the current directory or folder.

Simplan can be started with the command line:

simplan

One command line option is available for choosing the search algorithm. Use 'h' for the heuristic search algorithm, 'r' for the random algorithm and 'b' for the breadth-first algorithm.

simplan h
simplan r
simplan b
        

Choice of search algorithm is very important in concurrent program simulations as some simulations may not terminate using certain algorithms (see Implementation -- Search Algorithms for details). All algorithms will take the same time and give the same results for single program simulations.
