Welcome to Annapolis Pony Club!

2008

July Happenings

We ended the month of June in a great spot!   OuC team lead by Carly as captain was first at Fairhill  in Horse Management  and third over all in placing.  Katie C. was first in HM in the Novice individual division as well as placing first in that division.  Hillary also placed third in HM and third overall. Our team lead by Peyton was 8th over all and Sydney qualified to go to eventing nationals in VA!Everyone showed great team work and sportsmanship.   Our third team, a three lady team, led by Sarah ran into trouble with one of our mounts, Chester, who popped a splint on jumping day.  (That dressage test really did him in!)

Thanks to all of the pony clubbers and parents that put so much effort into Fairhill.  I can tell you, I am glad it is over and everyone seemed to have a great time. Our scramble member, Kim Y, sent a lovely email saying she had fun and learned a great deal!  She felt welcomed and enjoyed the experience.    A special thanks to George and Eric for all their hard work keeping the "hard stuff" fixed.  The repairs to the barn, the water and ice and the ground hog holes.  Thanks also to the parents that helped with the food, jump judging, and all other other tasks that needed attention during the rally.  It was nice to have Linda Harris and Julieanne help out with horse management as well.

The T-shirts were a hit and sold out I heard. Thanks Ms. Dee for doing that on top of all the personal issues you had going on!

Kim S is to be thanked for her efforts of lessons, paperwork, and the team meetings and continual communications.  We are sorry Erin's horse came up lame and that the Laskey family had some issues, but in the end it all worked out.  We hope Chester has a speedy recovery from his surgery and lameness as well.

Brooke G (our former member) did break her elbow in her fall.  We wish her a speed recovery and she seemed to be doing so well and having a good time.

GAMES -    Our games players are going to nationals.  Our Jr. Team was first by 1.25 pts and Katie's Sr. Team won as well.  We wish everyone the best of luck in VA for the championships.

July   16,  23,  and  30th - Lessons held at Happy Hills Farm.   Everyone welcome - even C riders (green horse or not). These lessons will be focused on getting our D's ready for the fall rallies.  YOU MUST ATTEND 3 LESSONS BETWEEN NOW AND THE DATE THE RALLY TEAM IS SELECTED IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A TEAM.  If you can not make that commitment you need to contact one of the club officers and discuss.

August Lessons will involve the coaches for those teams.  We will plan to continue the Wednesday night theme.  $10 per lesson payable night of ride.  Any questions about weather/footing contact Kim Stoke's prior to making the trip.

Camp- Last I heard there are 41 campers signed up.  Shaping up into a nice program.  Thanks to Mrs.. Peterson for spearheading that effort for APC.

Fall Rallies - if you plan to attend any of the following, please contact the adult listed  and the email sent on 7/6/08 from Chris Peterson.

Eventing                         Chris Peterson
D Dressage                    Chris Peterson
D Show Jumping            Kathy Yff
These are the ladies pulling the teams and paperwork together. They need to know how to form the teams based on registration requirements and your riding ability and rating.  We will scramble members out if we don't have enough spots. BUT in order to qualify to go, you must attend 3 of the scheduled lessons between now and the registration date for that rally.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Safety first - we must see you ride to know all is going well and you are safe!

Plaque Tracking - Mrs. Caverly has offered to head up this effort for the awards night. She will be sending to each of you a form and asking you to keep track of you APC 2008 accomplishments for the awards.  Keep an eye out for that information.

 Ms. Kim
