Fab Lab
All classes meet at LMC Bertrand Crossing Campus in Niles. Open Lab will be on Tues 6 – 9pm
College/HS Fab Lab (can take as a dual enrollment class)
In this class students will learn to create project designs on the computer using Corel Draw software. They will then manufacture their own creations using the Fab Lab equipment. The machines include a computerized laser cutter with intricate abilities and a vinyl cutter. $20 of materials included.

Middle School Fab Lab
This class is for ages 11 – 15.

Elementary Fab Lab
This class is for ages 6 – 10. Students will learn to create project designs on the computer using Corel Draw software. They will then manufacture their own creations using the Fab Lab equipment. The machines include a computerized laser cutter with intricate abilities and a vinyl cutter. A parent or guardian must be present to supervise the student for this class.
Day and Time: Tues 2 – 4:30pm or Thur 10:15am -12:45pm
Robotics
All classes meet at LMC Bertrand Crossing Campus in Niles.
Robotics I
This is a beginner’s class for ages 9 & up. The student will build and program robots using the LEGO NXT robots. They will learn about mechanical and software design, problem solving and having fun with robots.
Day and Time: Mon 1 – 4pm
Robotics II
This class is a step up from Robotics I. We will expand the projects of building and programming LEGO NXT robots and provide more challenges for the students.
Day and Time: Thur 4 – 7pm
Elementary Robotics I
This beginner’s class for ages 5 – 7 teaches mechanical design and problem solving. Student teams will complete several projects and mini challenges.
Day and Time: Wed 12:30 – 1:30
Elementary Robotics II
This class is for 6 – 8 year olds who are ready to learn basic programming skills in addition to the skills in Elem Rob I.
Day and Time: Tues 8:30 – 10:30
Team Robotics
This fun and educational class is designed for students ages 9 -15 to learn teamwork skills as a group to solve challenges by building and programming robots using the LEGO NXT Robots. Student teams will complete several projects and mini challenges. The class will compete in a robotics competition. There will be weekend travel to the competition involved. The class may also need extra practice time outside class periods.

Children’s Choir
These classes are designed to teach basic note reading skills, learn to sing with others, rhythm patterns and singing in two parts. Activities include motion and dance activities, playing on rhythm instruments, creating music, music history in a fun and exciting way through musical stories.
Day and Time: Mon ages 6-9 at 10:15 – 11am; ages 10-12 at 11:15am – noon
Youth Choir
Students learn proper singing techniques, different styles of music, history of music, theory of music, how to read basic musical lines in their range, how to count rhythm patterns correctly and sing as a group. Opportunity to perform concerts several times year.
Day and Time: Thur 11:30am – 12:45pm for ages 13 and up
Show Choir
This class is for those who wish to explore more modern styles of music and dance. Some music will need to be purchases by students. Concert offered throughout the school year and summer.
Day and Time: Tues 1 – 2:15pm for ages 14 and up
Beginning Strings
For students interested in learning to play violin, viola, or cello. In the first year the students will learn the proper way to hold the instrument, learn to read notes and basic theory, learn to count correctly the rhythm patterns presented in the music. Students will need: instrument, music stand, pencil, 3- ring binder, purchase lesson book at the first day of class.
Day and Time: Fri ages 6 -8 at 11 – 11:45am; ages 8-11 at 9 – 10am; Thurs ages 12 and up at 1:30 – 2:30pm
2nd Year Strings
This class is offered to anyone (all ages) who has had one year of violin, viola, or cello instruction. Students will review and learn how to play with a group, refine their individual skills, learn the basics of theory, learn to play in three new key signatures, and have the opportunity to play for several concerts during the school year. Materials needed for class: instrument, music stand, 3- ring black binder, pencil and book to be purchased at the first class.
Day and Time: Mon 9 – 10am
Strings Level 2-3 for those who have played their instrument for 2+ years and have been working on book levels 2 and 3
This class continues to teach the skills needed to become a skilled string player, including correct playing abilities, intonation, notes and note reading, listening for proper tone, correct posture and playing ability.
Learning to play in extended positions and the more interesting key signatures and time signatures.
Day and Time: Thur 3:30 – 4:30pm
String Orchestra for all ages and levels
This class is open to any string players who would like the opportunity to play with a group. They will learn to play together in several parts, new and old styles of music, correct concert procedures.

Symphonic Orchestra
This class is open to any one who has played their instrument for one year or more and wishes to increase their playing abilities and learn to play with a group. Instruments include: winds, brass, strings and percussion. Learn the proper and correct concert procedures for performances and have the opportunity to play for concerts several times a year.
Day and Time: Thurs 10 – 11:30am
Beginning Recorder
For students ages 8 and up who will eventually want to play a wind or brass instrument in the band or orchestra. Teaches note reading, basic rhythm patterns, theory, counting, and proper breath control of basic instrument.
Day and Time: Thur 9 – 9:30am
Beginning Keyboard
Teaches music reading, basic keyboard skills, rhythm patterns and counting correctly, theory lessons. Student will be playing songs on the first day of class. Materials needed, 3 - ringer binder, pencil, notebook for taking notes; students will need to purchase a lesson book at the first class. Instrument to practice on at home.
Day and Time: Mon ages 8-11 at 1 – 2pm; ages 12 and up at 2:30- 3:30pm
Beginning Guitar
Beginning classical guitar techniques, reading music and rhythm patterns, theory lessons, and playing as a group and individually. Opportunity for performances several times a year. Material needed for class, classical
guitar, 3- ring binder, music stand, purchase lesson book at the first class.
Day and Time: Wed ages 8-11 at 9 – 9:45am; ages 12 and up at 10 – 10:45am
Jazz Band
This class will be at the LMC Bertrand Crossing campus in Niles.
Music in all styles of jazz and rock idioms. Includes techniques of rehearsing stage band, playing of student arrangements and performance of jazz compositions, concert arrangements and various rock idioms.

P.E.
Gym & Swim
This class meets at Andrews University in Berrien Springs. Each week students in grades 1 - 8 spend an hour in the pool learning the various swimming strokes, and an hour in the gym being taught gymnastics by University Gymnics team members.
Day and Time: Two different classes to choose from (does not meet twice/week), either Mon or Wed, both from 1pm- 3pm.
