Hello. My name is Anne Paine. Many years ago, by God's grace I came to know that I was a sinner walking in darkness without hope for any deep joy or lasting peace in this world and with only a bleak death and a dreadful and scary unknown eternity before me. God made me to hear his "Gospel Message". And I now know the Lord Jesus Christ as my Redeemer and my Lord.
I find that the longer I am a Christian, the more I love to think about Jesus and God's great plan of redemption. If you do not already believe, you can by God's Word come to a knowledge of his Son and our Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ, and be saved.
I have been married over 50 years to a wonderful husband also called out of the darkness by our Great God. He publishes an E-zine - "Focus on God" which I heartily advise you to check out! It's good reading!
I love to read especially books about the Word of God. I like commentaries, books of devotions and sermons. One of my favorite people is Martyn Lloyd Jones , who went to his glorious rest to be with Christ in 1980. His sermons and writings on the New Testament Epistles of Paul have been a source of great learning and inspiration to me. One of my most loved devotionals is "Morning and Evening" by Charles Haddon Spurgeon.
I like some of the new praise music, but I must admit (being seventy something) that I am more partial to the old and historic hymns that I grew up with in the church. The wonderful piano music in the Support Group devotionals I got from "Joyful Noise". I like to learn about hymnody. Becoming aware of the old historic hymns - who wrote them (words and music) and sometimes the stories behind their writing - is very edifying and enriching education. Knowing these things provides us with a link to God's people of all ages and creates a feeling of unity with the church that was before our time just as what we in this generation leave behind will help those in the future to have a communion with us. A page I like very much which deals with this sort of thing is Cyber Hymnal. You might enjoy looking at it. Also check out The Christian Classics Ethereal Library if you like to read. Lots of older, public domain deep, good reading. Also check out Project Gutenberg for more good and interesting reading.
