Finding a back view of the jacket proved difficult - even in the videos he doesn't stay turned around long enough to see detail. To compensate I expanded my search to include historical hussar uniforms. A trip to the local community college library, plus Googling for "hussar jacket", "hussar pelisse" and similar have revealed the following:

The braiding pattern on Adam's jacket most closely resembles that of this British 11th hussar's dolman from 1854. Given that the jacket is from a movie that takes place during the Crimean War, the time frame is right, at least. |

The costume designer for "Charge of the Light Brigade" took some liberties with design. Compare the sleeve decoration on Adam's jacket (left) with that of the uniform of a Crimean veteran (right). Given the variety of hussar trim patterns, I'm left with a lot of options! |
