| This is a new award introduced in 2002, It is given annually for the
best thriller. The Award was suggested and is sponsored by Ian Fleming
Publications. There were seven writers on the short list, reflecting Ian
Fleming's creation 007 (James Bond). The first winner was John Creed for
The
Sirius Crossing about which the judges commented: "A literate and highly
accessible thriller. You are hooked from the introduction."
