This award was set up in 1999 to encourage and recognize high standards in recently published books for children of all ages, and to raise the profile of contemporary children's literature in Scotland. Authors of submitted books must be Scottish or resident in Scotland, but books of particular Scottish interest by other authors are eligible.Since the Award's inception, several books have received the award each year.
