July Coronation Report, A.S. XLI
June, 2006
1. Site Lay-Out and Issues:
a.) Erics have a tentative lay-out drawn up, with at least three alternates for Their Majesties and Their Highnesses to consider. The Eric Coordinator, THL Ian, and I are going out to site this Saturday to do a final tweaking of our map before we submit to The Crown for approval.
b.) THL Ian has been taking requests for Eric Space. Space is filling fast and in the end space may be divied up based on position on the OP. Since we are having The Crown bless our final design, this should hopefully prevent a lot of the fights over space before they start. The hilltop is very large and the only thing going upon it are the Erics and surrounding pavilions. There should be plenty of space for everyone who requires it, maybe just not right on the first row next to the Erics.
c.) The entire hillside to the West of the Cemetery is devoted to Their Majesties, Their Highnesses and Their retinue. We had THL Ula take a look at the area on Saturday of June Faire and she came away with a favorable reaction. We will coordinate between our Royal Liaison, HE Cedric, and the Campmaster of Their Royals to ensure that everyone involved understands the space that they have.
2. Publications:
a.) Copy made it into the June issue of The Crier. Updated copy has made it into the July issue.
b.) Web-site is quickly growing with information. Address is http://home.comcast.net/~antirjulycoronationxli/
3. Marketplace:
a.) Lessons learned from June Faire have made us put a cap of (40) merchants onto the event. We want to ENSURE that we have adequate space for all the merchants to have good access to customer and that all the roads are large enough for vehicles to travel for both set up and emergency purposes.
4. Site Security:
a.) We will have a group of volunteers on hand on Thursday and Friday to plug up any gaps in the borders of the event. This will help prevent 'ghosters' to the event and will help with the removal of cars from site when they are no longer needed.
b.) A plan is being drafted to help ensure that all cars are removed from site as soon as possible. Also, to prevent people from parking on Main Street of Port Gamble. We do not want to affect the businesses that rely on their regular customers to make a living. This plan may
involve the use of a tow truck, but we're going to do our best to ensure that we have enough Town Criers on hand to warn the populace as much as possible that cars may be towed if they are taking up space in town, blocking roads and driveways, or are parked in encampments when they should not be.
c.) We are developing a plan to blanket the town in signage to designate traffic flow and identify areas where cars should not be parked. We will enlist the town in this effort. They will be posting signs of their own as well to help identify areas where private citizens park and live.
5. Gate:
a.) Location of gate on Friday will be the same as it was at September Crown, 2004. It worked well in that location. But on Saturday, the gate will move to one of the side streets so as to help prevent interference with the wedding taking place near that location.
6. Marshallate Activities:
a.) Baronial Marshall (THL Conchobar) has had a difficult time contacting the Kingdom Earl Marshall. I have been cc:ed to several e-mail attempts to contact him. THL Conchobhar will now start working on contacting him via phone. It is imperative that we get his input into site lay-out and marshallate issues.
7. Volunteers:
a.) A major effort is about to get underway to recruit volunteers. We're planning to hit lists, including all the peerage and nobility lists. As well as person face-to-face time amongst people. Waiting for volunteers hasn't worked so well in the past, so we need to try new things.
8. Heralds:
a.) We have identified a major need for a Town Cry system to be up and working at July Coronation. We'll need many volunteers. Our two heraldic liaisons are working to make contact with Kingdom and come to a consensus on what can be done. Then they will be working at recruiting
volunteers themselves. |
