July Coronation Parking Policy
See also: Handicapped Parking Information
1.) Cars must be removed from site and parked in the
mill site as soon as
possible after unloading. Any cars still found on site (without
formal
permission) will be towed after 9AM on Saturday.
2.) Starting on Friday at 3PM and repeating every other hour (as
resources permit), Town Crier heralds will go throughout the
site to
remind people to remove their cars as soon as possible after unloading.
3.) A private, non-SCA wedding will be taking place during the weekend in Port Gamble, and wedding guests will be utilizing existing parking spots in town. Heralds will also remind people that cars are not to be parked on
the main street in Port Gamble. Nor are they to block housing access
and
especially driveways. Cars not promptly removed will be towed.
4.) It will be emphasized to all Gate Teams and Gate Captains that
all
those who enter gate will be reminded as many times as possible to
remove
their cars from site as soon as possible after unloading; make sure
that
they do not park in such a way as to block access roads and
driveways;
make
sure that they do not park on the main street in Port Gamble; and
make
sure
that they park correctly in the lower mill lot.
5.) It will also be an important part of the Gate Routine that the
Parking Pass be adhered to the window inside the car in such as way
as to ensure to the best of our ability that the Parking Pass will be
visible the
entire weekend. This is to make it easier to identify the owners of
any
cars
so that they may be found as quickly as possible.
6.) The town will be patrolled on a bi-hourly basis and
specific cards will be noted that are parked in town. If we can make a determination that
the
car belongs to an SCA member, we will have it towed an hour after the
following formal town cry on the subject. We will make formal contact
with
a
local towing company before July Coronation and will have a contact
number
with a pre-arranged truck that will come and pick up any car that we
need
towed.
7.) Signage to make directions through site as well as gate and
areas
NOT to park will be more extensive than they have been in the past.
8.) The town of Port Gamble will be encouraged to make areas where cars are
SPECIFICALLY not allowed to be parked more easily identifiable, so
that when
cars are eventually towed we can then point to the signs to explain why
they were towed. These signs should help to prevent a few
people
from parking in unwanted areas in the first place.
An important notice regarding handicapped parking at July Coronation XLI
Due to site restrictions and rental agreements, all parking at July
Coronation XLI will be in the main parking lot below the main street in Port
Gamble. This includes handicapped parking. Please understand that the areas
in town usually used by us for handicapped parking and VIPs are already
taken by a concurrent event in town.
Please do not park in any of the shopping parking stalls in town, even if you are only day-tripping the event. Violators will be towed.
Handicapped parking will be provided on a first come, first served basis. In order to utilize handicapped parking, your vehicle must have a
handicapped card/sticker/license plate. A limited number of handicapped
spaces will be available. Once they are filled, vehicles requiring handicapped parking, even if properly tagged, must park in the standard SCA parking.
Parking attendants will be on site on Friday, from Noon until dusk, to direct all event attendees to a parking stall. If you must park after this
time, please use your best judgement, and do not block others in. An
attempt to Herald for owners of improperly parked vehicles will be made;
however, if we cannot locate you, your vehicle will be towed at their
owner's expense.
All attempts will be made to provide a shuttle for all event attendees,
handicapped or otherwise, to ferry them from the parking area back to Gate.
A return
shuttle cannot be guaranteed. Please understand that you are on your own to
make arrangements should a shuttle not be available.
