These are pictures from McMurdo Station. McMurdo sits on the Ross Ice Shelf. McMurdo is one of two US stations down in Antarctica. The other being Amundsen-Scott at the South Pole. Scott's Hut, which is the Kiwi station sits on the other side of Observation Point.

The first picture is of a 100 year old seal carcass, which was found and carbon dated and it sits outside of Discovery Hut. Up the hill from Discovery Hut is Vince's Cross. Looking at the Discovery Hut picture, if you did a 180, there's the cross.
