Frequently Asked Questions

Getting email is nice!  Getting email with the same questions over and over gets a tad old however, and so I thought maybe I might head off some of the repeats with this section.  Most or all of these are answered in other places in the guide, but I acknowledge there's a lot of data there.

  1. Where can I buy a fletching kit?

Fletching kits are sold at any vendor who also sells bow components.  See the "Bows" page for a complete list of vendors.  SOME arrow component vendors also sell them, but not many.

  2. Where can I buy vanes?  Nobody sells vanes!!

Vanes are sold at any vendor who sells arrow components.  But here's the trick - they look just like arrow shafts.  Look again at the stuff the vendor is selling, and examine carefully all those shaft-looking things he sells - some of them are actually vanes.

  3. Where can I find the steel and ceramic staves that are mentioned in the bowyers guide?

To my knowledge, they have never been put into the game.  Yes, they are mentioned in the bowyers guide, and no, that wasn't a recent addition to the guide, they've been listed there as long as I can remember.

  4. I foraged up a bow_looking_thingy_03 in zone_07.  Do you know any secrets about using it to make a bow nobody else knows about?

UPDATE:  The bow staves foragable in POG and Eastern Wastes can now be used for Wood Elf Cultural fletching recipes.

  5. Can the cockatrice beak thingies that fall in various zones in Kunark be used to make arrows?  They look just like field point arrowheads.

    Not to my knowledge.

  6. My fletching skill is NNN.  What arrow should I be making now?

See the page on "Raising Skill", it answers that in some detail.

  7. How much should I sell arrows for?

That's a tough question to answer, since it really depends on your server, and it's been quite some time now since I've actually had my finger on the pulse of that market.  But back when I actively wandered around selling arrows, I used to sell them for roughly 3x their fabrication costs.  Incidentally, that was actually a lot of fun.  I went into some places that I had no business being, lugging arrows to customers, scared silly, and had a ball doing it.

  8. I've created a nice web page.  Will you put a link to it on yours?

Most likely not, unless you have a nifty-keeno page with info dedicated to something that relates in some way to the fletching tradeskill.
