Chapel of Saint George

Agia Yurgos
The Chapel of Saint George (Agia Yurgos)is a very cute chapel on top of the Likavitos. My guide book skimps on the detail, but I do know that Saint George is the patron saint of Athens.

The Likavitos is a second high peek with in the city of Athens. It has spectacular views of the city of Athens and the surrounding area. In fact, its view is far superior than the view of the Acropolis for two reasons. One, being slightly higher, it can see to the sea and for miles around Athens. Secondly, the Acropolis is in the panaromic view from the Likavitos. The hike up to the Likavitos is worth the view. Other ways to get up include a funicular and a road.

The name of the hill means wolf hill. On the top is the very attractive chapel of Saint George and a modern theater.
