The following text is just a place filler. When I have time I plan on adding more detail.
The Alpe de Siusi is a large Alpine plateau high up in the Dolomites (part of the Italian Alps). I spent a couple days hiking around the plateau while I was staying in
Castleruth. Even though it was over cast most of the time the grandure of the mountains around the plateau was unquestionable. I could could see snow cap mountains in the distance and dolomite towering above me.
While the over cast weather was great for hiking, it didn't make for great photography. However, I think you can see from the few photos I have on the one clear afternoon (after an all day rain drenching) that the Italian alps are truly amazing.
(Oh yea, don't mention Italian Alps to the locals, they would still like to be part of Austria.)
