Pena Palace

Moorish Castle
Sintra is a fairy tale town 12 miles north west of Lisbon and makes for a fantastic day trip. Sintra is a romantic little town in the coastal hills of Portugal. This town was the traditional retreat of the nobility of Portugal. As a result there are some fairy tale palaces that attract droves of tourists. The town’s history goes back though before being a retreat of nobility. At one point this was a large Moorish stronghold. The Mores had built large castle on a hilltop overlooking the town and the Atlantic. The castle is in ruins, but it has an enchanted forest growing out of it. This combined with the palaces Portuguese nobility make for a fairy tale city. Of course the people of Sintra know why people come to their town and have gone out of their way to make it a fairy Tale city (to attract more tourists of course.) I’ve divided the photos into 3 sections. The Pena palace, the Moorish Castle and the town. I hope you enjoy the photos. Any comments, please E-mail me, .
