Character: Willy Wonka Lolita

Variation: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Completed: Summer 2005

i love anything Tim Burton, moreso because of the wackiness and off-kilter nature of most of his stuff, and also because we're related.

either way, after seeing Burton's golden boy Depp play Wonka, i just had to find a way to do the same...but, you know, as a chick. because i refuse to crossdress.

::hair and hat::

i had been eagerly awaiting making another mini-tophat since i'd finished my Yuuko costume, and this provided a perfect opportunity. i had all necessities on had, too. i don't exactly have a proper loli wig for this, because i can't decide on one, so i vacillate between red curl extensions, braids, or my own hair in teency tiny pincurls.

::accessories::

the cane was somewhat interesting to make. please note: mine is NOT accurate to the movie, because i didn't want it to be. the point of the loli is girlishness, so i made everything very curvy and organic. and bow-ridden. ditto for the cane. there's even a lil' coordinating bow below the knob at the top for added fun.

as for the W pin, that was made via my magical sculpting method of clay and varnish, and has been suprisingly sturdy. the W shoe stickers, have not been, as one has gone missing. shame, too, because they were handmade, and pretty awesome.

the gloves, well, i wanted girly. and bright. so i found some purple nitrile gloves. also, i'm allergic to latex, so i had to have them anyways.

there is also a pocketwatch and extra chain on this costume. it's hard to see, mainly because it stays in the jacket pocket, but it's hilarious. there's a truck on the front. sweet. i love walmart watches...

::the corset and ruffles::

i already had the corset, which i secretly hate because i always felt it was too short to suit my torso properly. one of my many ebay finds...i also had the perfect cotton paisley fabric horded away from years ago for a sundress: i made two sleeve ruffles which are detachable, along with the bodice ruffle. easy peasy.

::the crinoline::

::the jacket::

::stockings and shoes::

because i have excessively fat legs, i can't wear any premade stockings. not even the plus sized ones. they cut in to my legs and look like crap. so, much like my Yuuko ones, i made these out of full opaque tights and used grosgrain ribbon to bind the top. then, i made a garter belt with the invisble bra straps, and hooked it all up.

the shoes differ, too. when i don't have to walk alot, i opt for the far cooler maryjanes. they have witch heels are are just fab. however, when i do have to walk, i go for my archaic, but utterly awesome rocketdog maryjanes that i've had for a decade. sure, they're a size too small, but no one has to know...
