A.Ara Danikian

Infusing his art into his longstanding devotion to the purity of nature, Danikian represents an oeuvre of familiar places with which his affinity has grown through familiarity. These include such localities as West Beach and Great Misery Island of Beverly Farms, Singing Beach, The Eagle Head, and highly picturesque shore views of Magnolia and Gloucester to name a few.

Danikian works with apparent emphasis on the details of shapes and colors, as he sees them, and intertwines these with lights to secure the mood and the atmosphere of the moment.

His cityscapes of Boston have been most popular by collectors since his early days when he was exhibiting them in his own Arvest Galleries, Inc. of Boston, MA

A. Ara Danikian was born in Istanbul, Turkey. He majored in Art and Literature at the Getronagan Armenian Lyceum and Istanbul University.

Danikian started drawing at an early age under his art teacher Armen Keshishian. He arrived in the United States in the 50's and continued his higher education at the New York Institute of Finance. After serving as a 1st Lieutenant in the Turkish Army during the Korean War, he was sent to the U.S. by Hilton Hotels International as an executive trainee. He worked for Hilton in various executive positions for two decades and continued to paint landscapes, seascapes, still life’s and cityscapes as time permitted. In 1973 he left Hilton and opened his own gallery, the famed Arvest Galleries, Inc. on Boston's Newbury Street. He dealt mainly in 19th and 20th century American and European art. Despite his busy life-style he continued to paint, exhibiting in the Castano Galleries and, later, his own Arvest Galleries, Inc.

He has traveled and sketched in many countries, including: Greece, Syria, Lebanon, Italy, France, England, Germany, Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, Canada., Mexico, many Caribbean islands and lately Austria and the Czech Republic. After he retired from his gallery business in 1994, he moved to the North Shore and now resides in Beverly Farms, MA as a full-time painter.
