Common Magic

In the Kingdom of the Shield, Magic and Enchanting are sufficiently common that some Enchanted items can be considered as commodities, available for purchase at any time.

Powerstones

Powerstones are different than regular GURPS. Powerstones have a Mana capacity that is a function of the number of Powerstone enchantments that have been cast upon them, and the relationship between this value (called the Powerstone's P-Rating) and their capacity uses the Mana formula, P/5. Powerstones recharge extremely slowly (1 mana/ day), and are used by most mages only for emergencies. Smaller stones can be considered available for sale to mages who are in good standing with the Azure Tower.

Manastones

Manastones are used extensively by the enchanters of the Azure tower in creating large enchantments. They rarely have a large surplus available for sale, but Mages in good standing with the tower should be able to acquire a small number of these stones as they are needed. Valuable gems are almost never used as Manastones.

Powerstone and Manastone Costs

4 3 $36 $140   8 $25

15 45 $1716 $2600   40 $145
20 80 $4800 $7100   48 $180

Intermediate values may also be available.

Adders

Since their invention in the early days of the Azure tower, Adders have been highly sought by Mages of all disciplines. Adders for most easy and average spells can be gotten, and adders for Recover Energy are ubiquitous. More powerful Adders can be made but are not common. Adders are most commonly found as rings and other jewelry, but other forms are possible. The item value listed below is the intrinsic value of the item independent of the enchantment.

Description Item Value Cost
Adder +1 (Single Spell) $50 $100
Adder +2 (Single Spell) $100 $200
Adder +3 (Single Spell) $200 $625
Adder +1 (Spell Group) $100 $200
Adder +2 (Spell Group) $200 $625
Adder +1 (College) $200 $625

Items for Non-Mages

While most items usable by non-mages are prohibitively complex and expensive to be considered commodities, some few are simple enough and yet desirable enough to be considered readily available. Other items can be made, but they are tools of civic officers or the very wealthy exclusively. The item value listed below is the intrinsic value of the item independent of the enchantment.
