Welcome to our home in Sandia Heights.
The weather station in use is the Davis Wireless Vantage Pro2, and these pages are updated every 5 minutes. The meteorological day used at this station ends at midnight. Since early September 2011, the station hardware has been located on a ten foot pole in the south side yard. The wind instruments are at the top of the pole, with the rain gauge, temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors a little under five feet above ground level. This location resolved neighbor objections to the original roof top installation. Wind speed and direction data are materially degraded by this alternate location, while temperature, humidity, and pressure data should be pretty trustworthy. A UV sensor and a solar sensor were added on January 10, 2012. At mid-day they are well exposed, but the early morning curve is masked a bit by a neighbor's house near the winter solstice, and my own home near the summer solstice. Arizona cypress along the south fence will intercept some late afternoon light at most seasons.
