THE LEGEND OF THE CHUTE
The Chute has been at the same location for 25 years. In these past years, many strange sounds have been heard in the early morning hours during, before opening and after closing.
You know what I mean, the sounds of voices, foot steps and seeing shadows in a dark room. Some customers have thought someone had sat next to them, when they looked the seat was empty and the area around them became cold.
The Chute building is huge, constructed in the 1930's and full of history. Where "The Chute" is located, one of the bloodiest "Civil War Battles" was fought. Several Thousand Confederate and Union Soldiers died in 1864 during The Battle of Nashville near and at this exact location.
Did the Construction of this building distured a battle field where many sodiers fell to there death? Some people seem to think so.
Many people have past away during this time period. Perhaps some have stayed and not moved on to the after life . Believers say some have returned and refuse to leave. Call it just another urban legend, folk lore, just a ghost story or are we serving more than just one kind of spirit. Many such tales surround The Chute and its historical location.
The Ghostly Photo on the My main web page I call Tammy. She was a friend to many, loved by everyone that knew Her and lived on Frankin Rd. Tammy past away at Her Franklin Rd. home in 1998. She was a Music Artist with a Gay Following.
In life Tammy was said to come by The Chute to visit her Gay Friends on the way home from recoding sessions and performing. Out of respect to her and her family I will not reveal any other information about this beloved music artist. The image in the photo does look some what like her, just use your imagination.
Years ago several customers asked when did we start having "uniform gaurds" walking our parking areas with rifles. Some of the so called gaurds were wearing blue uniforms and others in a walnut color uniform. After checking we did not see anyone like this in the area. The local Police were called and they did not have anyone in the area walking or on foot patrol. They checked and found nothing. I know this seems strange but think about it...Was this someone from the past walking the battle lines of a war that ended long ago?
Another such story happened over 19 years ago. The upper level of The Chute was rented out by a janitorial service that worked the late shift. The owner would come in around 11:00pm and stayed until 7:00am checking on crews working at other locations. One Sunday morning when I arrived at The Chute before opening, the owner of the janitorial service was waiting outside, refusing to go in the upstairs offices.
The owner came up to me and asked, "Do You Believe in SPOOKS". Why I asked, what happened and what do you mean? Again she asked, Do you believe in Ghost or Spirits that may be haunting this building. Get to the point I said and tell me what happened.
I want go into a lot of detail, but this is what She told Me. Every night when all the bar employees have gone, around 4:00am, voices could be heard in the building. The voices sounded like someone calling out and other creepy sounds like foot steps walking around in the empty hallways.
After hearing these voices and the scary sounds, She left and refused to go back in until the sounds were identified.
I assured her that what she heard was just an old building full of weired sounds. However, my explanation did not satisfy her. From that point on she never entered the upstairs at night again. In the next few days she relocated her company to a new address. The strange voices, foot steps, cold dark shadows and sounds did not leave, they remained.
Over time, I have gotten familiar with the sounds and voices heard in this old building. Some of which have been identified, many have not.
The Chute has many stories to tell like the ones I have just wrote about. Some are true, some maybe not.
Remember, this structure has been the home for many differant companies since it was constructed in the 1930's. Everything from a Bank, Barber Shop, Photographers Studio, Furniture repair company, a Dress Shop, Shoe store, Laundry Cleaners, a Resturant supplier and some have claimed a Casket Company has housed this address.
Who only knows why they left and never returned.
Did something scare them off?
To this day You can still hear and see strange things going on with in these walls before we open, during and after closing. Weired sounds, strange voices and cold shadows moving in dark rooms. One thing is true, people have come and gone over these past many years. Have a few decided to stay? Many people seem to think so.
Perhaps the spirits of past customers and occupants have returned or never left. Maybe the Civil War soldiers who died here have returned to fight a battle that ended 141 years ago. Many soldiers met sudden death during The Battle of Nashville that occured all over this area of Franklin Rd.

One fact still remains, when you enter The Chute shadows will appear, strange noises, voices and erie sounds can be heard.
Some people are convinced this does happen and will not enter this building alone or at all.
But don't worry or be affraid of our Haunting Spirits, Ghost or Spooks.
Come in, have fun, enjoy our shows, have a drink and meet your friends. The Chute is the best place to hook up and make new friends, perhaps from the past and present.
