The first and most important Shadow of Amber---
the queens and sirens of Rebma.

Ccapella (Claudette Colbert)

In the legends of Rebma, one of the strangest is the loss and return of Ccapella, the older twin sister to Llewella. Recently, Ccapella found her way to Amber with no knowledge of her true identity. As a craft guild member, she worked at Castle Amber for over a year before Llewella called the family together to pass on the secret. Even then, because Ccapella was only a girl of 16 years, her identity was withheld from general knowledge.

Now Rebma and Amber are both aware of the story. Of Moins' near death in carrying twins so different that Mother and children would not have survived birthing. Of the strongest girl being removed into a protective magic and the weaker girl being carried to term.

It is said in Rebman court that Oberon's reaction to Llewella's 'sickly' condition at birth decided Moins both about further personal liason with Oberon and the special knowledge about Ccapella's existence.

Llewella's sadness seems to have lifted with the restoration of her long-lost sister.

Next was Llewella, whose hair matched her jade-colored eyes, dressed in shimmering gray and green with a lavender belt, and looking moist and sad. For some reason, I knew she was not like the rest of us. But she, too, was my sister.

Moire (Claudette Colbert)

Queen of Rebma, half-sister to your Aunt Llewella and grandmother to your cousin Martin, Moire is bound intimately into family politics. During your Uncle Eric's reign, he courted her but was unable to win her. She is currently in Rebma where she rules with a firm and fair hand. She has a strong interest in the relation between Martin and Random.

Tested over time by Oberon, she is more than a match for King Random.

I speculated as to the number of her subjects she had sent upon [the Pattern], to obtain some control of this power for Rebma.

-- Corwin, Nine Princes in Amber

Vialle (Jennifer Connelly)

A blind noblewoman of Rebma, your Aunt Vialle was married to your Uncle Random by Queen Moire of Rebma, who holds Random responsible for the suicide of her daughter Morganthe. Much of the recent improvement in Random's temperament and behavior is attributed to Vialle and the obvious happiness the marriage brings Random. Vialle stood by her husband during his captivity under King Eric and today makes a gracious and popular Queen.

You were without sight for a long while.

Yes.

It can embitter a person, or it can give him greater joy in those things which he does have.

The femme fatales and 'wild cards' of Shadow---

Coral (Lara Flynn Boyle)

Coral is a 'wild card' in the powers of Shadow.

Once queen of Kashfa, she is now retired from that responsibility and seeing to her private affairs in Shadow.

Coral is divorced from Rinaldo.

" ...And the queen of Kashfa sees with the Eye of the Serpent."

"I don't know what she sees with it," I said, "She's still recovering from the operation. But that's an interesting thought. If she could see with it, what might she behold?"

"The clear, cold lines of eternity, I daresay. Beneath all shadow. No mortal could bear it for long."

Jasra (Joan Crawford)

Jasra is the widow of Brand and mother of Rinaldo. She is strong willed and has often played a role in Amber politics. She has been queen in several Shadows and she was trained in magic by Dara. Her current where-abouts are unknown.

She seems to have made peace with the royals of Amber after setting aside her vendetta against the family.

"Well, she snared herself an amberite -the prince called Brand," he said. "Rumor had it they met over some magical operation and it was love at first blood. She wanted to keep him, and I've heard it said they actually were married in a secret ceremony. But he wasn't interested in the throne of Kashfa, though he was the only one she might have been willing to see on it."

-- Deserter Dave to Merlin, Blood of Amber

Julia Barnes Sawall (Famke Janssen)

Julia is Jurt's wife in the Courts of Chaos. She studied arcane arts under Jasra and was once Merlin's lover. Formerly opposed to Merlin's interests, she has matured and devoted her skills to protecting the current Court of Thelbane. Her talent with arcane forces is extraordinary for her age.

Julia is well-schooled in the range of Shadow.

"All right," [Melman] said, speaking loudly. "Yes, Julia came to me, as I had been told she would, and I taught her some things-- not the things I would have taught her even a year ago, but pieces of some new things I had only learned myself more recently. I had been told to teach her in this manner, also."

Rinaldo (Paul Walker)

Rinaldo has also retired from the throne of Kashfa.

Everyone seems to like the idea.

He divorced Coral to marry her sister Nayda. When Nayda elected to return to the Courts of Chaos, she and Rinaldo divorced.

"If you have information vital to the realm, though, perhaps you ought to give it to Random direct, He's not here just now, but I could reach him for you via Trump.

"No," I said. "I know he doesn't like me at all or trust me, as his brother's killer and a friend of the man who has sworn to destroy Amber. I am sure he would love to see me deposed and some puppet on the throne of Kashfa. I suppose I must have things out with him one day, but this isn't the day. I've too much else going on just now. But the information transcends local politics. It involves Amber and the Courts of Chaos, the Pattern and the Logrus, the death of Swayvill and Merlin's possible succession to the throne in the Courts-"
