"Neolithic objects of power and ritual landscapes are the inspiration of my work.  My travels have taken me to the Atlantic coasts of Europe where the 5,000 year old “remains” of prehistoric art are most concentrated.  The landscapes of Kilmartin, Callanish, Orkney, Avebury, and Stonehedge resonate with meaning.  These are not easy places to visit yet I find I have to go there again and again."

"Like the ancient artists, I have gathered a recurrent vocabulary of symbols.  The art I create comes from an undeniable need to form abstracted boats, spirals, compasses, and circles.  I suspect they carry the message of a journey – both a journey of personal pilgrimage and the universal and eternal journey of life.  I don’t really need to know for sure – I just NEED to create these images.  I need to see them, spend time with them, seek to understand them, and be inspired by them." - Kathleen Mooney
