Glenn K.M. Chang is a self-taught photographer who has been working with 35 mm and digital cameras for over 20 years. Raised in Hawaii, he lived for 14 years in Colorado, and moved to Indiana in the 2006.

As both a commercial and fine art photographer, Glenn’s work has focused on nature and the wild environment. Initially he was drawn to the tropical and volcanic beauty of Hawaii. But when he moved to Colorado, his work drew on the inspiration of the high mountain country of the Rocky Mountains, the deserts of the Four Corners region of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona, the extreme diversity of California, and the wild and scenic beauty of the Pacific coast. Now living in the rural country of the Midwest, Glenn has taken up the challenge of finding the gems of water, forests, and natural environments hidden away in the landscape.

Glenn’s initial efforts were to portray the stunning and expansive landscape of the American West. Gradually over time, while he has continued to do landscape photography, a large part of his work has focused on the small details of rocks, leaves, flowers, and flowing water that are so often missed in our hurry along busy lives.

Glenn’s photographs attempt to capture an ephemeral moment when the play of light and shadow, color, textures, and patterns show a special quality of a subject. These qualities or “character and personality” of the natural environment, for lack of a better term, can be bold and obvious, and at other times subtle and hidden. But they can speak to us in powerful and spiritual ways that we need to be attuned to and aware of, or they will pass us by unnoticed.

In trying to capture those moments in his photography, Glenn has tried to convey to the viewer the sense of being there and experiencing the scene as he did at that moment — the three-dimensional feel of the environment and its unique character and personality that he is drawn to and which resonates for him.

Glenn has taught photography classes in both Colorado and Indiana. His classes cover beginning and advanced photography techniques, as well as photographic composition.

Glenn has been represented in galleries in Colorado and California and has had a large number of one-man and group shows. His photographs are produced as fine art prints, as well as calendars and greeting cards.
