| From childhood, art-related activities have been a part of my life and a path of self-discovery. Art, to me, involves much more than learning techniques. It takes into account your individual vision and all of life's influences and blends this into your own on-going, unique style of creativity. My artwork reflects a love of vivid color and rich, textured surfaces. Mixed media gives me endless choices to explore new ways to compose vibrant compositions. I use a variety of mediums and techniques on commercial and my handmade papers to develop painted surfaces. Collages, assemblages, woven paintings, greeting cards, lamps and other artwork are created from these papers. For me, the challenge and excitement begins as the image evolves. Additional layers of texture, paper, paint, inks, pastels, embellishments or other objects may also be incorporated. Many paintings go beyond the boundaries of a frame or canvas and evolve into wall sculptures. My artwork mirrors my thoughts/emotions, experiences from everyday life and travel and whatever captures the imagination. I enjoy creating art that invites interpretation by the viewer.
