How to Become a Member

Each year we review the work of artists who would like to become a part of the cooperative. We are looking for artists who consistently present quality craftsmanship and who can work within the cooperative structure. At the same time, we must strive to keep a mix of media and must be cognizant of the amount of space we have for display. The application process involves several steps that include an application including digital images of your work, viewing of actual work and a personal interview. If you're interested in joining the cooperative, go to the links below to apply. A completed application is due 4:00 pm January 30, 2010. Once we have reviewed applications we will contact you.
Applicants who pass our initial vote will be invited to bring five to seven pieces and meet with our members for an interview on February 24, 2010 from 5-9 pm at the Tippecanoe Arts Federation's Wells Center.  Applicants voted in will be asked join on March 1.  Membership runs from May 1, 2010 to April 30, 2011.

Criteria for acceptance of new members:

  • Renewal of our current members
  • Blend of various media
  • Sales trends
  • Is work of high quality
  • Is work saleable and appropriately priced
  • Ability to work within a cooperative
  • Ability to work as a salesperson at the store

If you are interested in applying for membership, please take some time to visit the shop and consider if your work would be suitable for our retail trade. If you decide to apply, please make sure that any work presented (either in digital image files or in fact) is in salable finished condition and is no more than two years old.  Part of our consideration of applicants is their ability to discriminate between what is suitable for our shop and what is not. Go to the link below to apply.  If you have questions, please contact the shop and you will be given the appropriate contact information.

There are many benefits that come with being a member of AO. We are in an exciting location in downtown Lafayette. Our customers are loyal and excited about our store and the original artwork they find each time they visit.
