CD Sales at Artists’ Own (after reading, print out and bring with you to Artists’ Own along with up to 5 CDs) Artists’ Own, Inc. is an artist cooperative that promotes the arts in the Lafayette area and operates a retail store. In our effort to provide a relaxing and enjoyable retail environment and to support our local musicians, we occasionally accept local musician’s recordings for sale in the shop. We offer play time during shop retail hours and will handle sales transactions. Basic Requirements for Music Consignment Any musician wishing to place CD’s with Artist Own must be a legal resident of our Indiana Arts Commission Region 4 to be eligible. Legal residents of Benton, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Fountain, Howard, Jasper, Montgomery, Newton, Pulaski, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Warren, or White counties are eligible. We only represent local and regional artists and our clientele has come to appreciate our dedication in this matter. We ask that a sample CD be provided for us to listen to so that we can make a decision regarding placement in the shop and we will use that CD in our sound system in the shop. Upon acceptance, each consignee is free to set their own retail prices with a 15% commission going to Artists’ Own, Inc. Payments to the artist are made monthly. Sales of artwork outside the retail space made as a result of the consignee’s presence within Artists’ Own, Inc. are also subject to a 15% commission and the artist is expected to pay this monthly. Artists’ Own reserves the right to refuse any music from even an approved consignee for any reason but specifically in the case of music not deemed suitable to our retail space. Any consignee is welcome to discuss these issues with us but we reserve the right to make a final decision in our own best interest. The Policy Committee, in consultation with the Marketing and Display Committees and with the full membership of Artists’ Own will consider your application. As an invited consignee, you will be expected to provide each piece ready for display, marked clearly as to price. You will also be welcome to supply us with your business cards, and any promotional materials you have available. |
