Meet The Board

Gloria Martin

I've been a director for many years and thoroughly enjoy participating in events that bring recognition to those who distinguish themselves in the field of education. As someone who was born and raised in Antioch I know first hand the struggle teachers have to provide the tools necessary for our students to succeed. That goes for the coaches too who keep the kids active and involved in sports. As a retired business owner I totally believe in giving back to the community.

Barbara Herendeen

I joined the Antioch Schools Education Foundation in 1999, the year the Foundation went from being operated by the Antioch Unified School District to a non-profit IRS 501(c)3), operated solely by residents of AUSD.

The Foundation has, over the years, become a strong advocate for teachers and students. We proudly shine the spotlight on outstanding teachers and classified employees at an annual dinner. The "Best of the Best" are honored and presented with numerous awards for all their hard work. Those who sponsor and attend this event help provide the funds necessary for our Grants Program.

It's been an honor to have served over the years in the capacity of secretary, vice president, president and Chairwoman of the annual Awards Dinner.

Bart Miller

I moved to Antioch during 1992 and, after several years of local PTA support and participation, made the decision to join the Antioch Schools Education Foundation during 2001.  As a multiple University graduate, I’ve personally learned the value of a good education at the public school level.  As a Corporate professional, I regularly observe the impact of public school education on graduates becoming newly hired employees.  As a parent, I am constantly amazed at the influence a good teacher has on a student.

The Foundation is a proud supporter of the Antioch Unified School District and the community organizations of Antioch.  We focus our attention toward all well-deserving educators and classified employees seeking to enhance the classroom experience…through innovation, encouragement, and passion.  Annual recognition and reward of those who achieve new heights in educational excellence is a hallmark of the Foundation’s commitment.

It is an honor to serve as a Foundation member with giving co-members and other community organizations in support of the education of Antioch’s youth.
