Helping Out

Residents of Ashford Park can impact the lives of students by volunteering at Ashford Park School. Following is a list of opportunities where you can serve and make a difference.

Reading: The Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade classes are always happy to have adults come and read to them. By doing so, you are making reading interesting for students, some of whom have no one at home to read to them. Children interested in reading are children who are more likely to succeed.

Assistance in the Media Center: There is always a lot of activity in our Media Center and anyone who would like to assist with cataloguing, shelving and other organizational activities is welcome to do so.

Grant writing: We are looking into ways to expand our curriculum, which would be funded by grants. Anyone with grant writing experience is encouraged to share those skills.

Mentoring: Some children need one-on-one mentoring and tutoring. We would love for community volunteers to work with these students. Remember you must complete a training program to participate. The school can help arrange for this training.

Participate in school activities: Many activities throughout the year are designed to give parents and prospective parents the opportunity to learn more about the school, meet the staff, and talk to other parents about their experiences with Ashford Park Elementary.

If interested, you can call the school directly for details:

Two atoms are walking down the street when they run into each other. One says to the other, "Are you all right?" "No, I lost an electron!" "Are you sure?" "Yeah, I'm positive!"
