SRVP Message - August 20, 2007
As we come to a close for a successful 2007, it is appropriate to remember the wonderful training programs that Group 3, which includes Region IV A & B chapters conducted. These programs were due mainly to the dedication of our volunteer leaders. Thank you to all for your professionalism and loyalty to ASIS International.
Region IV A is under the leadership of Region IV A Vice President Barry Gentry, CPP and Barry can be reached at the following email address: Barry_Gentry@agilent.com. Region IV A consists of the following chapters: Pikes Peak, Denver Mile HI, Fort Collins and Salt Lake City. Region IV B is under the leadership of Cathy Starr and Cathy can be reached at email address: cstarr@starrsecurity.com. Region IV B consists of the following chapters: El Paso, Northern New Mexico, New Mexico, Phoenix and Tucson.
Group 3 chapter officer training will be conducted via a webinar in January 2008 and all volunteer leaders are welcome to attend. Group 3 2008 goals are similar to those in 2007.
First: Develop an ASIS International Strategic Implementation Plan
Second: Grow all chapters by ten percent.
Third: Comply with all ASIS procedures .
Four: Each chapter will conduct a certification training seminar in 2008.
Five: Each chapter will conduct a certification recognition activity.
Six: All chapter meetings will feature a dynamic guest speaker presentation.
Looking for sources for new members is always a challenge, however a few chapters have set an example of what new members can do for a chapter. Congratulations to Denver for another successful year at Johnson and Wales University. The Tucson chapter ihas initiated a partnership with a university in that city. Colorado Springs chapter has a partnership with the information security association and once a year conducts a seminar jointly with that chapter. Also, the Fort Collins chapter maintains their academic approach to planning and successful follow-through. Thank you everyone for sharing your ideas and for being active with the business of ASIS International.
Best regards for a successful start to 2008. Encourage new members to become active in the many committees of your chapter and to consider certification.
Lee Cloney, CPP, SRVP Group 3
