The Lynnhaven Ladies Book Club meets

  1st Thursday of each month
  10:30 a.m.
  Churchill Street Recreation Center

Next meeting: Thursday, December 3rd
Book: Heart and Soul by Maeve Binchy

Come and join us at our next meeting and bring someone new with you. Remember, you do not have to have read the book or finished it to attend the monthly meeting. It's fun just hearing what others think about a particular book or author, and fun just being together, and enjoying each other's company and our lively discussions.

We hope you will join us. We can promise you... none of our discussions are boring. For more information about the club, contact Peg Tabor (click on link or call 205-7261).

Please remember to wear a NAME TAG to meetings.

Heart and Soul by Maeve Binchy in December
(Discussion Leader: Kathy Gaston)

With the insight, humor, and compassion we have come to expect from her, Maeve Binchy tells a story of family, friends, patients, and staff who are part of a heart clinic in a community caught between the old and the new Ireland. Dr. Clara Casey has been offered the thankless job of establishing the underfunded clinic and agrees to take it on for a year. She has plenty on her plate already—two difficult adult daughters and the unwanted attentions of her ex-husband—but she assembles a wonderfully diverse staff devoted to helping their demanding, often difficult patients. Before long the clinic is established as an essential part of the community, and Clara must decide whether or not to leave a place where lives are saved, courage is rewarded, and humor and optimism triumph over greed and self-pity.

After our discussion, we'll have our annual Holiday Luncheon. Hope you'll join us for both the discussion and the luncheon.

Holiday Luncheon

Pat Weaver has volunteered to plan our Holiday luncheon again this year, which will be Thursday, December 3rd... following our book discussion. The group voted to have lunch at Glenview this year. Mark you calendars and plan on joining the fun!

We'll have our traditional used-paperback grab bag again this year. Bring a wrapped paperback book. No need to buy a book. Just wrap a book that you already have around the house that the group has not already read. Don't have any? Get a cheap used book at The Markets of Marion (open on the weekends only), All Booked Up in the La Plaza Grande shopping center, or Raintree Books set back from Rt. 441, across from Water Oaks. For other places where you can get inexpensive books, see Purchasing Books at Reduced Rates.

If you plan on attending, contact Pat Weaver as soon as possible.

The deadline for getting back to Pat is no later than Saturday, November 28th., when she needs to submit her final count for our reservation. Hope you can join us. It's always fun.

See you in December....
