Keep Friends & Neighbors in Your Prayers
There have been numerous studies over the years that have investigated
whether the power of prayer works. Researchers like
Dr. Elizabeth Targ in San Francisco selected practicing healers from a
number of traditions
Christians, Buddhists, Jews, Indian shamans and had
them pray for 20 patients with advanced AIDS and compared their progress to a
control group of 20 other AIDS patients. According
to her, the prayed-for patients had fewer and less severe new illnesses, fewer
doctor visits, fewer hospitalizations and were generally in better moods than
those in the control group. "Prayer may be an effective adjunct to standard
medical care," says cardiac researcher
William
Harris, Ph.D., who headed a study of cardiac patients at St. Luke's Hospital
in Kansas City, Missouri. Harris concluded that the group receiving prayers
fared 11% better than the group that didn't, a number considered statistically
significant.
Some
of our Lynnhaven friends and neighbors are going through tough times right now
and are in need of our prayers and support. It seems that when it rains, it
pours. Let's keep them in our thoughts and prayers to help them and their
families through this difficult time.

Latest Update on Carol
Updated
After
several weeks of tests, imaging, and a biopsy and all the associated
stress of waiting for appointments and results
Janet Kosa has learned that she has
inoperable liver cancer. She had a lesion removed from her liver last year
that was non-cancerous. This year is different. She was coping
pretty well when I last talked with her and is continuing to do the things
she usually does, but she and Frank will need our prayers and support in the
upcoming months.
Update
Janet
is part of a clinical trial now, where she is taking a new drug,
getting chemo by mouth. So far, she's doing well and tolerating
the drugs well (knock on wood). She is in good spirits and will
be returning to Shands for blood work in a week and a half.
Hopefully, the drugs are working.
Good News!
Clinical trial is working!
Out of 14 estimated tumors in & outside of my liver, 5 small tumors
inside my liver are gone; they were the size of pin heads!
The remaining 9 have
decreased in size. According to the Doctors
measurements, there is a 14% change, which is great news! I have a long
way to go, but this is a definite start!
I am continuing
with the same meds, and in 3 weeks, I'll have more blood tests,
then more
3 weeks after that, for a total of 6 weeks when I'll have my
next CT scan. I have a long way to go, but its a good beginning!
Thanks for all of your prayers & good wishes!Janet Kosa |
